GDOT – Georgia Department of Transportation
GRTA – Georgia Regional Transportation Authority ITS – Intelligent Transportation System SCATS - an acronym for Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System, a traffic signal control system originally developed in the early 1970s for Sydney, Australia by the Roads and Transport Authority of New South Wales. It senses the traffic load and adapts the signal timing to use the roadway most effectively and reduce the time to get to various points. Cobb County Department of Transportation recently implemented Georgia’s first SCATS adaptive traffic signal control system in the Cumberland CID area.
