Your County Commissioners

East Cobb is comprised of Districts 2 and 3 of the Cobb County Commission. The commissioner for each district is elected by its citizens. The commissioner appoints the planning commissioner and zoning appeals board member for the district.

With former Commission Chairman Sam Olen's resignation to run for state office, Vice Chairman and District 4 Commissioner Woody Thompson has stepped in as interim chairman.

District 3

With Commissioner Tim Lee's resignation to run for Board Chairman, Thea Powell has been appointed as interim District 3 commissioner.

The Board of Commissioners meets in regular session on the second Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m. and on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m., except in the following cases: The regular session of the board normally scheduled for Tuesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at 9 a.m. Its meetings in December 2010 will fall on the first Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m., and on the third Thursday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m.

Commission zoning meetings are on the third Tuesday at 9 a.m. There are no zoning hearings in January.

In 2010, The Planning Commission holds zoning hearings on the first Tuesday (9 a.m.) of the month.

The Board of Zoning Appeals holds variance hearings on the second Wednesday (1 p.m.) of the month.
