New Alarm Ordinance

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The new alarm ordinance will go into effect January 1st, 2009. All residences or businesses in unincorporated Cobb County with an alarm system must complete the registration process no later than December 31st, 2008.

All citizens and businesses in unincorporated Cobb County can start the registration process beginning October 1st, 2008. Registration can be made on line through the Cobb Police website or over the telephone. I've been told the registration process is fairly simple and non time consuming.

Last year Cobb County police officers were dispatched to 48,000 alarm activations, 99% of which were false alarms. We are hoping that over the next five years the new alarm ordinance will help reduce that statistic by 50%.
